CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz Laguna-A mother and her two sons were found dead with multiple hack wounds inside their home in Lumban, Laguna early Monday.
Laguna police director Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz identified the victims as Dolor Olarte, 39, and her two sons, Kemp, 13, and Arvie, 9.
The victims’ bodies were discovered at around 9 a.m. the first floor of their two-story home in Barangay Segunda Pulo, according to case investigator SPO1 Victor Peña of the Lumban police.
The victims, who were found lying on a mattress in the living room, were believed to have been murdered between 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Monday, said Peña.
Olarte’s mother, who left the house Sunday afternoon, was the first to discover the murder when she returned Monday morning.
Peña, quoting Olarte’s mother, said the victim’s husband is working abroad.
“Kemp sustained a hack wound in the neck that almost beheaded the boy. There were also hack wounds on his left arm meaning he tried to thwart the attacks,” Peña said.
Police also found the family’s cabinets open as if they had been searched, although authorities have yet to determine if anything was missing.
Police were tracking down the errand boy and distant relative of the family, Alex Pereja, between 18 to 19 years old, who was nowhere to be found after the incident.
Insp. Jaylet Castillo, the police chief of Lumban, said they were looking at robbery as the primary motive.
