LPA spotted east of Central Luzon brings rains

MANILA,Philippines—A weather disturbance that has chances of becoming a cyclone was spotted off in the east of Central Luzon will bring rains in the area, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

As of 2 a.m., a low pressure area was seen 1,030 kilometers east of Central Luzon, the  Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Once it intensifies into a tropical depression, it will be named Ferdie.

Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the eastern
section of Visayas and Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
