TEAM Mayupay backed by ICC Pharmacy posted its fourth straight win after drubbing Suran, 108-95, last Sunday for the solo lead in the Upper Bayanihan Catholic Association (UBCA)-2012 basketball tournament at the Quiot Sports Complex.
Suran led 30-24 in the opening period and widened its lead to 58-47 at the half. But Mayupay sizzled in the third with a blistering, 35-10 run to grab an, 82-68 advantage entering the final quarter.
Meanwhile, Dorothy Grace halted Grace Bostolits’ undefeated run with a stunning, 88-87 win on Barak Ecojedo’s triple and Roy Abacajan’s freethrows in the dying seconds.
Toly Petiluna and Jeff Francisco paced Bostolits, which dropped to 3-1 with 20 points apiece.
Earlier, Yati backed by San Isidro stunned Ricky & Carlos of Punta, 76-72, for its first win in three outings (1-2), while the latter dropped to 1-3.
In the last game of the quadruple card, Quiot-San Roque trounced winless OYAB, 121-113, for its 2nd win in four games (2-2).
