Roxas's electoral tribunal protest hinders LP-UNA alliance, says Bautista

MANILA, Philippines—The proposed alliance of the Liberal Party (LP) and the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) can possibly happen, only that a party has to take the initiative, lawyer JV Bautista, UNA spokesman said Tuesday.

In an interview with anchors Susan K, Den Macaranas and Captain Dylan Halili of “Good Morning Inquirer” on Radio Inquirer 990AM, Bautista said he thinks “it’s only a matter of ‘who’s gonna take the initiative.”

The big problem he sees, however, is the pending protest of Transportation Secretary and LP President Mar Roxas before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal on the winning of Vice President Jejomar Binay of UNA during the 2010 elections.

“Siguro hanggang nandoon yun, it will remain as a stumbling block,” Bautista said. Jamie Marie Elona
