BY end of July, six Caltex stations in Cebu will have 7-Eleven Convenience stores to replace their Mini Mart shops as part of a strategic partnership.
“Now 7-Eleven is expanding in parts of Cebu and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao where we are also growing our business. We see this as a convergence of two global brands that will together shape the kind of convenience and service that we want our customers to experience,” said Larry Tiglao, Chevron Philippines Inc. district manager for Philippines provincial retail, in a press conference last week.
At least 33 Caltex station operate in Cebu. Six in Metro Cebu will open 7-Eleven stores by July 31 in tge North Reclamation Area and Mango Avenue in Cebu City, and Maguikay and A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.
Tiglao said that 13 to 15 Caltex stations will have 7-Eleven shops within the year.
“We will also be adding one to two more stations in Cebu within the year and about three more next year. All of these stations shall be built ready for 7-Eleven stores,” said Tiglao.
He said stiff competition in Cebu and other key cities in the country prompted them to add more outlets and to partner with another global brand.
7-Eleven first opened in the Philippines in1984.
There are 373 7-Eleven stores in the Philippines, 202 of which are franchised.
In Cebu, the first outlet opened in Escario Centrale Mall last July 11.
