THE CEBU Doctors’ University’s 7th University Run started gathering a huge number of runners one month prior to the race.

The race,  which will start at the CDU campus at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City, has a 25-kilometer category with a route passing through three bridges—the old Mactan Bridge, the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Cansaga Bay Bridge in Mandaue City.

Around 250 long distance runners have already enlisted for this new challenge.

“We are very happy because we are now half way through our expected number of runners in the 25k and its surprising that a lot of runners have registered early,” said Run For Sight Foundation president Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III.

Last year, the University Run was dubbed Two Bridge Challenge since its route passed through the old Mactan Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.  Its longest distance was 21k aside from the 3k and 10k categories. This year, the race will also have 13k, 6k and 3k distances aside from the 25k./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
