Engineer killed in front of live-in partner
A 50-year-old engineer was killed on Sunday evening by a gunman in front of his live-in partner in Manila. After shooting Amado Caagba, a resident of Valderama corner Lara Streets in Binondo, the still unidentified gunman commandeered a passing tricycle and fled. Senior Police Officer 1 Ramir Dimagiba of the Manila Police District homicide section said that before the incident around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday in front of a corner store near Caagba’s home, a man asked the engineer who was with his partner about the whereabouts of a certain “Mamar” who supposedly lives in the area. Dimagiba, however, said that the man apparently only asked the question to get close to Caagba. The gunman then shot the victim in the head as the latter’s live-in partner ran away in fear from the scene. The suspect, on the other hand, fled on a tricycle. The victim’s body was brought to Cruz funeral parlor in Sta. Cruz, Manila for autopsy and safekeeping while homicide investigators said they were conducting further investigation to determine the motive behind the killing. Jeannette I. Andrade
