Auto shop owner shoots self dead
An auto repair shop owner and a 74-year-old widow were found dead in apparent cases of suicide in Cebu City.
Godofredo Arnival Jr., 73, allegedly shot himself in the mouth inside his house in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Police said financial problems may have forced Arnival to kill himself past 8 a.m. yesterday.
Godofredo’s 62-year-old wife Albina told police that she was in the living room of their house when Godofredo approached her and handed her some cash for the salaries of their two shop workers.
Godofredo then went inside their bedroom.
A few minutes later, a gunshot rang out. Albina rushed to their room and found her bloodied husband.

Article continues after this advertisementParamedics of the Emergency Response Unit Foundation (ERUF) declared Godofredo dead.
Police said a paraffin test will be conducted to confirm the presence of gunpowder residue in Godofredo’s hands.
SPO4 Rey Cuyos of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office said the victim was been hounded by financial problems since most of his customers availed of his service on credit.
In barangay Mambaling, a 74-year-old widow allegedly stabbed herself in the chest with a pair of scissors .
The fatality was identified as Cecilia Jabonero.
Cecilia’s relatives told police that the woman had been experiencing pains in her hip. The ailment could be the reason why the woman killed herself, said police.
Relatives were convinced that Jabonero committed suicide, said police.
Cecilia’s 43-year-old daughter Ira Abella said Cecilia was last seen alive having breakfast around 5 a.m. yesterday.
“Gikapoy naman ko day (I am already tired),” said Ira quoting her mother.
Police said it was the woman’s 12-year-old grandson who found her lifeless woman in a room.
