Former Quezon, Bukidnon mayor dies

QUEZON, Bukidnon — The municipality of Quezon, Bukidnon, is in mourning following the passing of former Mayor Gregorio Lloren Gue.

He passed away on Aug. 27 in Manila.

Gue died of heart disease, leaving an 18-year legacy of development that transformed Quezon through projects like a new municipal hall, securing 37 hectares of land for local government use, and earning the tribal title “Datu Makapukaw” in 2011 for supporting the Manobo community.

Datu Makapukaw means a “leader who awakens or inspires.”

His remains will arrive in Quezon on Monday, Aug. 31, at 2 a.m., with wakes scheduled in Quezon from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 and in Cagayan de Oro City from Sept. 3 to 5, followed by his interment on Sept. 6. /mcm
