APS hands Convergys first loss in E-League

WITH FOUR players scoring in double figures, the Aegis People Support (APS) Vipers stunned the erstwhile unbeaten Convergys Wolves, 64-61, last Saturday in the 2011 Powerade E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Clifford Amarado finished with 19 points, Ryan Veloso scored 18, while Steve Warren Navaja and John Louie Arriesgado tallied 10 apiece as the Vipers caught a big fish in tallying just their third win in six games.

The Wolves went into the game looking to remain as the only unbeaten team in the league but stumbled right at the starting gate, failing to recover after falling behind at the end of the first period, 10-20.

Joshua Ryan Yam wound up with 14 points, Emmanuel David Cosca tallied 12 and Ronald Mabanto had 10 for the Wolves, who fell to 5-1 (win-loss).

The defending champions Teletech Titans, meanwhile, earned a piece of the lead by scoring an 87-62 rout over the Supportsave Dragons.

The 25-point victory installed the Titans at the top of the standings along with the Wolves and the surging Calltek Trojans.

The Titans were spearheaded by Sherwin Emmanuelle Resilla, who collected 19 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. Lourenz Limpangog added 12 points, while Edsel Duke Capillanes and Anghay pitched in 10 each. Edmon Paradiang netted 13 points, while John Hatague and Janille Bantilan had 10 apiece for the Dragons, who tasted their fifth loss in seven games. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
