WITH SO MUCH at stake, sister-teams Barangay Ginebra Kings and B-Meg Llamados figure to play like the fiercest of rivals as they clash in a crucial match today in the main game of the 37th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The two squads battle for solo second place and improve their chances of the advancing to the championship round of the season-ending tournament.

The two teams both have 8-4 (win-loss) records, trailing the league-leading Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, who have nine wins and three losses.

A win will be big for the Kings as it earns them a playoff for a finals berth via “four-out-of-five” incentive. Tournament format states that a team which finishes out of the top two after the semis but wins four of its five semifinal games will earn a playoff for a finals berth.

The Kings are still unbeaten in the semis, racking up three straight victories that allowed them to move up in the rankings.

B-Meg also started the playoffs on a rousing note, winning two straight games before succumbing to the eliminated Meralco Bolts last Friday, 104-101.

The Llamados could have tie the Painters at the top had they won that game. The team is also looking to keep alive their bid of earning the four-of-five incentive.

The Bolts (5-8), meanwhile, will be looking to end their campaign on an impressive note as they face the dethroned Petron Blaze Boosters (6-7) in the first game. The Boosters won’t be able to defend their crown as they struggled in the semis.
