MORE THAN 100 triathletes will gather in Sogod today for the 2012 2nd Sogod Mayor Monyeen Durano Triathlon Cup at the Alegre Beach Resort and Spa.
Of the 100, about 20 will be seeing action in the SuperTriKids (STK) category.
This race will be the last major triathlon race before the Aug. 5 Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines and the Aug. 4 Alaska Ironkids. Both events will be held at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa.
This race will feature the standard distance of 1.5-kilometer swim, 40km bike and 10km and a half distance. Aside from the STK, a duathlon covering the 5km run, 40km bike, 5km distance and a half distance will also be held.
Organizers arranged for a transportation from Cebu City to Alegre Beach Resort and Spa waiting at the SM City Cebu open parking lot in front of the Northwing at 8 a.m. for participants and their bikes.
Race briefing will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Alegre Function Room beside the Alegre registration area. The STK will kickoff at 2 p.m. while the standard triathlon will follow at 3 p.m. Awarding and dinner at Crescent Cove will follow at 6 p.m.
The transportation back to Cebu City will leave at 9 p.m. with the drop-ff at SM City Cebu. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
