Run to protect Mabaw reef kicks off Tagbilaran Charter Day celebration

THE second run for Mabaw Reef last July 1 opened the celebration of the 46th Tagbilaran City Charter Day.

Dubbed as “Mabaw Reef, Atong Sangtuaryo, Atong Ampingan,” the run aimed to heighten people’s awareness about the ongoing Pride campaign for the Mabaw Reef marine sanctuary and to increase the support of Tagbilaranons to protect the reef.

The race was participated by Manga High School, Ubujan Elementary School, Tiptip Elementary School, Cabawan Elementary School, Victoriano D. Tirol Learning Center, Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, University of Bohol, Holy Name University, Tagbilaran City Science High School, BIT-International College, Mansasa High School, City Central Elementary School, Holy Spirit School, Philippine Maritime Institute and the Bohol Island State University.

The activity was organized by the city government, in coordination with RARE and Maribojoc Bay Executive Management Office.

Winners for the 3K, 5.5K, and 21K categories were awarded after the friendly competition. The Tagbilaran City Science High School was given a special award for having the most number of participants.
