2 senior PNP officials promoted to next higher ranks
MANILA, Philippines — Two senior Philippine National Police (PNP) officials were promoted to their respective next higher ranks.
PNP deputy chief for operations Police Maj. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez, the third-highest-ranking official in the national police force, was promoted to the rank of police lieutenant general.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved Lopez’s promotion on July 30, according to General Order No. NHQ-GO-PR-2026-4626 dated Aug. 12 and issued by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.

Meanwhile, PNP-Civil Security Group (CSG) director Police Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante was promoted to the rank of police major general.
Marcos also approved Lagradante’s promotion on July 30, according to General Order No. NHQ-GO-PR-2026-4627, also dated Aug. 12 and issued by Remulla.
The CSG is the PNP unit tasked with enforcing regulations on security and investigation agencies, as well as firearms and explosives.
Republic Act No. 6975, or the Department of the Interior and Local Government Act, states that police colonels, police brigadier generals, police major generals, police lieutenant generals, and police generals are appointed by the president. /mcm
