Laguna cops seize P2.3-M shabu from 3 suspects

LUCENA CITY — Police seized more than P2.3 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) from three suspected large-scale drug traffickers who were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 12, in a buy-bust operation in San Pablo City.

The Police Regional Office 4A reported that it had arrested suspects identified only as “Jim,” “Erwin” and “Reynalin,” who allegedly sold P9,000 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer in Barangay Soledad at 8:10 p.m.

The suspects, all tagged as “high-value individuals” (HVIs) in the local drug trade, allegedly possessed eight heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing a total of 350 grams and valued at P2.38 million based on the Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.

Police said HVIs include financiers, traffickers, manufacturers and importers of illegal drugs and top-ranking members of drug groups.

Police also confiscated a mobile phone, which will be examined for possible drug-related transactions.

Laguna police are investigating the source of the drugs.

The three suspects are under police custody and will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /das
