Malacañang suspends gov’t work, classes in 12 areas due to habagat

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang suspends work in government offices and classes at all levels in public and private schools in the National Capital Region, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon at 3 p.m. Thursday due to rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat.

Memorandum Circular No. 125 issued states that agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster response, and other vital services shall continue their operations.

Localized cancellation or suspension of classes and work in the government, meanwhile, may be implemented by their respective local chief executives.

The suspension of work for private companies is left to the discretion of their respective heads. /jpv
