MANILA, Philippines – The Sandiganbayan on Thursday suspended work in its offices due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

In a notice posted on its website, the anti-graft court said the work suspension was in line with Memorandum Circular No. 122, issued by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by authority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., suspending work in government offices in Metro Manila.

Despite the suspension, the Sandiganbayan said a skeleton workforce would remain on duty at its Judicial Records Division and Cashier Section to attend to urgent matters.

While no tropical cyclone wind signal has been raised over Metro Manila, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of continued heavy rains in the region due to the combined effects of Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon. /dp
