New Sandiganbayan justice, CSC exec named

President Benigno Aquino has promoted an old hand at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) as a justice in the Sandiganbayan.

The newly appointed Associate Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang had worked in the OSG since 1982.

Tang filled up the post vacated by Sandiganbayan Justice Francisco H. Villaruz, Jr., who has since been appointed presiding justice of the antigraft court.

Tang obtained her Political Science degree from the Manuel L. Quezon University in 1975 and her Bachelor of Laws from the San Beda in 1979.

Mr. Aquino also signed the ad interim appointment of lawyer Robert S. Martinez as Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), replacing Rasol L. Mitmug.

Martinez will serve as CSC commissioner until February 2, 2018.

Prior to his appointment, Martinez served as deputy administrator for administration of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority since February 26, 2008. Michael Ubac
