TACLOBAN CITY – A total of 274 police officers from across Eastern Visayas were promoted to higher ranks during a simultaneous oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks ceremony held by the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) headquarters at Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte, on Wednesday.

The mass promotion, conducted under the Philippine National Police’s First Cycle Calendar Year 2026 Second Level Uniformed Personnel Regular Promotion Program, included 38 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 236 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs).

The newly promoted commissioned officers comprised 30 Police Majors (PMAJ), four Police Captains (PCPT), and four Police Lieutenants (PLT).

Meanwhile, the promoted non-commissioned officers included two Police Executive Master Sergeants (PEMS), 22 Police Chief Master Sergeants (PCMS), three Police Senior Master Sergeants (PSMS), 44 Police Master Sergeants (PMSg), 97 Police Staff Sergeants (PSSg), and 68 Police Corporals (PCpl).

Among the 236 promoted PNCOs, 62 are assigned to the Leyte Police Provincial Office, 25 each to the Samar Police Provincial Office and the Tacloban City Police Office, 27 to the Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office, 24 each to the Regional Headquarters and the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office, 19 to the Northern Samar Police Provincial Office, 15 to the Biliran Police Provincial Office, 11 to the Ormoc City Police Office, and four to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8.

Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 regional director, said the promotions recognize the dedication and hard work of the personnel while reminding them of the greater responsibilities that come with their new ranks.

“The ranks you wear today symbolize greater responsibility and accountability. Let this promotion inspire you to continue serving the people with honor and unwavering dedication,” Capoy told the newly promoted officers.

The promotion ceremony forms part of the PNP’s regular career advancement program, which recognizes qualified personnel based on merit, performance, and eligibility.
