A TEENAGE high school student in Cebu City yesterday reported to the police that he was kidnapped by three men and taken to Liloan town, northern Cebu but was able to fight back and escape.
It was not immediately clear whether a ransom demand was made or why the young man was taken.
The student said the three men were the same ones who abducted him last June 11. He said he was released unharmed afterward in barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City.
Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Cebu city olice chief, said this could be a case of mistaken identity since the victim said he doesn’t belong to a gang and has no enemies in his neighborhood or school.
Buenafe said it didn’t look like the work of an organized crime group.
The student said he was walking near the Apas National High School last Saturday when three men forced him to ride a gray car and blindfolded him.
He said he was brought to Liloan town but was able to fight off his abductors and run to a beach resort in barangay Jubay.
The resort’s security guard brought the teenager to to the Jubay barangay hall, where he was given clothes and food.
Barangay officials called the cell phone number of the student’s mother. He was reunited with his family on Monday./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
