Worker dies in Compostela bus-motorcycle collision
A 38-year-old factory worker was killed after the motorcycle he was driving to work at 6 a.m. yesterday collided head-on with a passenger bus in barangay Estaca, Compostela town, northern Cebu.
Killed on the spot was Ruel Inoc, an employee of Cebu Mitsumi Inc. in Danao City.
Inoc was pinned under the bus and dragged for several meters after the collision.
Another motorcycle crash in Sibonga town, south Cebu landed PO1 Kenneth Bandong of the Talisay City police in the hospital.
Bandong was negotiating a curve in the road about 11 p.m. Sunday when the motorcycle swerved to the opposite lane and rammed a concrete plant box.
Bandong was thrown off and fell in a creek near the road. He was brought to the South General Hospital in Naga City for various body injuries.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the Compostela accident, the Ceres bus with plate number GYX-916 driven by Ronilio Alarte was on its way to Cebu City.
PO2 Fedelito Jopia, desk officer of the Compostela police, said the bus tried to overtake another vehicle when the bus collided with the motorcycle in the opposite lane.
The bus’ bumper and its windshield were destroyed in the impact.
