THE Mandaue City government started distributing P1,000 financial assistance to 12,000 qualified senior citizens at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex last Monday.

The city will release the balance of P1,000 in December.

“We  plan to increase the financial aid to senior citizens depending on the availability of funds,” said Councilor Jefferson Ceniza, chairman of the committee on social services.

Nedy Sienes,  Office of the Senior Citizens (OSCA) head, said their records show there are 14,000 registered senior citizens but only 12,000  qualified as beneficiaries based on their voter’s registration certificate./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
