Ardina gains berth in US Women’s Amateur golf

FILIPINA Dottie Ardina qualified for the prestigious US Women’s Amateur after she salvaged fourth place at the Fountaingrove Golf Club with a score of 74 in Sta. Rosa, California.
The 18-year-old Ardina fought back with gutsy pars in the closing holes of the hilly, 6,480-yard, par-72 layout as the top ICTSI-backed bet saved a two-over card and gained a share of fourth with Courtney Soekland and Clare Sorensen in the one-day US Amateurs qualifier.
Grace Na fired a one-under 71 to top one of the sectional qualifiers for the annual event set Aug. 6 to 12 in Cleveland with Kim Che sharing joint second with Carly Childs with 73.
While Ardina advanced, ICTSI teammate Mia Piccio failed to recover from a poor start, limping home with a 76 and missing the eight-player cut.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
