Ex-mayor appointed to Bataan Freeport

MARIVELES, Bataan – Former Orani town mayor Efren Pascual, Jr. has been appointed as director of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), which oversees the Freeport Area of Bataan in the sprawling former Bataan Economic Zone. 

President Marcos Jr appointed Pascual, who in turn was endorsed by Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III and Bataan 2nd Dist. Rep. Albert Garcia.

The Bataan Export Processing Zone was established during the term of the President’s late father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., when Pascual’s father, Efren Pascual, Sr. was serving as governor of Bataan province. 

The late Bataan congressman and governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia, the province’s political partriarch, passed House Bill converting the export processing zone to Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), now a magnet for investment in this part of Central Luzon./coa
