Kain Po! feeding program launched for Lapu-Lapu schoolkids

PUPILS of Kalawisan and Canjulao elementary schools in Lapu-Lapu City will soon get nourished through the Kain Po! campaign of Century Pacific Group-Ricardo S. Po Foundation (CPG-RSPo) and its feeding partner, the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE).

During the launching of the program last July 5 at the two schools, over a hundred children were given supplementary feeding prepared by the elementary teachers and parent volunteers.

The supplementary feeding conducted in line with the observation of the Nutrition Month will be giving free lunch to the schoolpupils thrice a week.

The food consists of CPG products such as Century tuna, corned beef and sardines mixed with vegetables.

The children’s weight, grades and attendance will be monitored monthly.

Canjulao and Kalawisan elementary schools were the latest addition to the beneficiaries of the program. CITE and CPG have ongoing feeding programs in Marigondon Elementary School, Babag II Elementary School, Buaya Elementary School, Pajac Elementary School, Bagong Silang Elementary School, Banilad Elementary School, Cabancalan 1 Elementary School, Cabancalan 2 Elementary School, San Jose Day Care Center, Leonard Wood Elementary School, Canduman Elementary School, Budlaan Integrated School, Budlaan Elementary School and Cubacub Elementary School.

The Century Pacific Group-RSPo Foundation is the socio-civic arm of Century Canning aimed at addressing the major issues facing the country today such as hunger and malnutrition, education and the environment.

The Foundation has launched its  to officially brand the Foundation’s feeding program. With the Kain Po! campaign, which means Kalusugan at isipan naalagaan, the foundation hopes to alleviate malnutrition and hunger among the schoolchildren, not just through feeding the body but also the mind. The program has already prepared more than 1,200,000 meals from 2010 to 2011.
