Groups call out teacher, SK exec for ‘inappropriate, predatory’ remarks
MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela for Good Governance (VGG) and Angat Kabataan-Valenzuela (AKV) called out the remarks made by a teacher and an elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official.
The civil society groups condemned the said statement, which it described as “deeply inappropriate and has no place in our school or communities.”
“We call for an immediate, fair, and transparent investigation into the complaints filed by parents and residents of Brgy. Veinte Reales regarding [the] social media post,” the two groups said, referring to the teacher’s remarks “that appear[ed] to sexualize students.”

For the VGG and AKV, it was unbecoming of an educator, and even more so of a public official, “to publish content that can be reasonably perceived as malicious, objectifying, or suggestive toward students.”
“Those entrusted with educating and serving the public must uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect,” said the two groups, as it stressed that the safety, dignity, and well-being of young people must always be protected.
As they pointed out, “students deserve learning environments where they are safe, valued, and treated with dignity, not reduced to the subject of inappropriate remarks,” which was made on social media.

VGG and AKV said they do not intend to judge or condemn anyone. “However, any allegation involving possible inappropriate conduct by a teacher—especially when it concerns the welfare of students—deserves an immediate, fair, and thorough investigation.”
“[We] stand firmly against all forms of sexualization, harassment, and abuse of power. We reaffirm our commitment to protecting young people and advocating for spaces where every student can learn free from fear, exploitation, and discrimination,” AKV said.
The INQUIRER reached out to the SK of Brgy. Veinte Reales in Valenzuela, but has yet to receive a comment. /cb
