MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) developed into a tropical cyclone on Monday morning, the state weather bureau reported.

In its latest update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA intensified into a tropical depression at around 8 a.m.

It was last spotted 1,275 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, outside the PAR.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 70 kph, moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.
