MANILA, Philippines — Qualified government employees may receive their Fiscal Year 2024 Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) this year, possibly earlier than expected, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said on Thursday.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Tuesday published Resolution No. 2026-1, dated July 2, formally announcing the Office of the President’s approval of the PBB for Fiscal Year 2024.

“The Fiscal Year 2024 Performance-Based Bonus for qualified government employees will be processed and is expected to be granted this year. It may even be released earlier,” Castro said during a briefing, reading a statement from the DBM.

Funding for the FY 2024 PBB will be sourced from the Fiscal Year 2026 General Appropriations Act.

“For a more detailed implementation schedule, including the target timelines for the processing and release of the Performance-Based Bonus, you may refer to item 9 of EO No. 61 Technical Working Group Memorandum Circular No. 2026-1 dated July 3, 2026,” Castro said in Filipino.

The PBB is a “top-up bonus” given to employees based on their performance and contributions to their department’s overall targets and commitments. This is on top of the Productivity Enhancement Incentive distributed across the board, as well as midyear and yearend bonuses and a P5,000 annual cash gift.

Government workers in national government departments, bureaus, offices, other executive offices, state universities and colleges, government-owned or -controlled corporations, local water districts, and local government units are eligible to receive the PBB. Employees of Congress, the judiciary, constitutional commissions, the Commission on Human Rights, and the Office of the Ombudsman are also eligible. /mcm
