
MANILA, Philippines — Kanlaon Volcano on Thursday morning saw a “moderately explosive eruption,” the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the eruption ended at 7:36 a.m., according to an update posted on their official Facebook page.
In a daily bulletin, Phivolcs said the volcano logged 19 volcanic earthquakes from 12 a.m. on Wednesday until 12:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The volcano also had 2,454 metric tons of sulfur dioxide flux, while it saw “moderate emission” of plumes which were 200 meters tall within the said period.
Mt. Kanlaon, which covers 24,557.60 hectares of land area with rain forests and verdant vegetation, has been under Alert Level 2 since July 29, 2025, reflecting ongoing increased volcanic unrest.

Under Alert Level 2, entry into the four-kilometer radius of the permanent danger zone and flights in the vicinity of the volcano are prohibited.
