MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will have all bus drivers of the Don Mariano Transit undergo mandatory drug testing after one of its units figured in an accident along the EDSA Ortigas flyover last week.
A Radyo Inquirer 990AM report quoted LTFRB chair Jaime Jacob as saying that all drivers of the bus firm will go through mandatory drug testing and road safety seminar. Its buses will undergo road worthiness tests as well.
The LTFRB has earlier suspended the franchise of 21 Don Mariano Transit buses after the accident.
Passengers told authorities that the driver had been texting on his mobile phone before he lost control of the vehicle and crashed against the flyover’s railings.
The bus firm will not be allowed to resume operations while investigation was on-going.
