BRASILIA, Brazil—Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has offered Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez the help of Brazilian doctors for his cancer treatment.
A presidential spokesman says Rousseff told Chavez in a telephone conversation that Brazilian doctors could be sent to Venezuela or he could come to Brazil.
The spokesman says Venezuela’s president thanked Rousseff for the offer made Friday but gave no indication if he would accept. The spokesman released the information on condition of anonymity, citing internal regulations.
Earlier this week a similar offer was made by Brazil’s Foreign minister Antonio Patriota.
Chavez has said he had a cancerous tumor removed in Cuba.
