NBI probes Tacloban school shooting
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating the Monday’s shooting inside a Tacloban City high school that killed three students.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said this in an ambush interview with reporters at the bureau’s headquarters on Wednesday.
“We assigned our Tacloban office to investigate so we will also have a source for this,” Matibag said when asked if the bureau will also conduct its own investigation into the tragedy.

On Monday, two male Grade 9 students, aged 15 and 14, opened fire inside the premises of the San Jose National High School.
Three students were killed while several others were injured.
The two minors are currently under the custody of the police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police confirmed on Wednesday morning that a complaint for three counts of murder and multiple counts of frustrated murder and serious physical injuries has been filed against the 15-year-old suspect.

Under Republic Act No. 9344, or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, children aged 15 and below are exempt from criminal liability, and will instead be subjected to intervention programs if the offender will be penalized. /apl
