Soon, Pateros residents will no longer have to go to neighboring cities just to buy fresh produce.
Officials of the last remaining municipality in Metro Manila have unveiled plans to build a public market starting this year.
Mayor Joey Medina said the market will be constructed on Ragas Street, Barangay Santa Ana.
“Right now, Pateros residents still have to bear with heavy traffic just to go to public markets in Pasig, Taguig or Makati,” he told the Inquirer.
“The Pateros public market, once completed, will bring convenience to our residents,” he added.
According to Medina, the local government will finance the construction and private landowners on Ragas Street, where the town’s new police station is also being built, have agreed to provide a location already cleared of informal settlers. Nathaniel R. Melican
