Erwin Tulfo tells colleagues to stop Senate division
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Erwin Tulfo has called on his colleagues to put an end to the widening division within the Senate, urging them to set aside their “colors” and focus on the chamber’s legislative mandate.
Tulfo made the call as he pointed out how there were more pressing matters in the country, which means government leaders should instead be fostering solidarity rather than inciting division.

“Let us stop this division. The more we keep on talking about this situation, we further divide not only the chamber, but the people,” said Tulfo in a radio interview, as quoted by his office in a statement on Sunday.
“Let us not look at colors anymore because we have the same problems. We must proceed to working together if we really love our countrymen,” he added.
According to Tulfo, while senators remain divided based on their political affiliations, Filipinos continue to suffer from hunger, inaccessible healthcare and poverty — regardless of politics.
“How do we resolve high prices of goods and low income? It is not anymore about supporting sides because all of us experience this brunt of difficulty in accessing even basic goods,” Tulfo said.
“Marcos loyalists, Duterte supporters, and Leni followers experience [the] same problems on skyrocketing prices, medical care, education, and others,” he added.
He then called on his colleagues to finally unite and focus on crafting laws, probing irregularities, and prioritizing the welfare of the public.
The Senate is currently split between two rival blocs.
