MANILA, Philippines–Malacañang has no problem forming a coalition with the party headed by a politician who once found himself in trouble over a highway extension project.
“Campaigning is campaigning …. Words were exchanged during that time but we move on for the sake of the country,” said Edwin Lacierda, President Aquino’s spokesman, during the news briefing on Friday afternoon.
Lacierda, who is also the Liberal Party’s campaign spokesman in the last elections, said Nacionalista Party president Senator Manny Villar has been supportive of the administration measures in the Senate.
“They recognize what’s good for the country,” Lacierda said.
Mr. Aquino on Thursday indicated a powerhouse administration ticket is now being worked out after LP concluded very successful talks with Villar’s Nacionalista Party and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
