MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Lanao del Sur Rep. Ziaur-Rahman Alonto Adiong on Thursday filed a cybel libel complaint against the 18 ‘bagmen’ of former Rep. Zaldy Co at the Marawi City Prosecutors Office.

The 18 men, some of them former soldiers, were indentified as bodyguards of Co who also supposedly delivered kickbacks from flood control projects to politicians and government officials.

Adiong was named as among those who received a luggage of money delivered at the House of Representatives.

“It’s very ridiculous in the first place. Never in my life I’ve seen a luggage stacked with money,” he told reporters after filing the complaint. “No matter how ridiculous is the accusation, I can’t ignore it. I want them to face the investigation of the Senate blue ribbon committee.

There are a lot of close circuit television in the House of Representatives,” Adiong said.

Adiong said the accusation he received payoff could be because “it has been known that I am very critical of the Dutertes.”

Adiong said “this is a diversionary move on the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.”

The House had designated Adiong as spokesperson of the impeachment prosecution team, along with Kabataan Rep. Renee Co.

“If what they said are true, why are they afraid to face Senator Erwin Tulfo in the Blue Ribbon Committee,” Adiong said. INQ
