MAN FACES KIDNAPPING CHARGES

A TEENAGER is facing kidnapping charges for keeping a 14-year-old girl in barangay Tingob, Mandaue City.

Mike  Sumaylo of  barangay Mabolo, Cebu City said he never forced the girl to go with him and that they were lovers.

The girl’s parents sought  the help of  the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) when the girl didn’t return home since June 25.

Police said Sumaylo and the girl were found in the house of  his relative last Wednesday afternoon in Mandaue City.

Sumaylo said the girl, a  high school student, voluntarily went with him. He said he even advised the girl to  go home.

Sumaylo said he accompanied the girl to a road to wait for a ride home but the  girl refused to go home.

Senior Supt. Jose Pante, chief of CIDG-7, said Sumaylo and the girl became friends when they agreed to  meet in person or “eyeball”  at a downtown mall in Cebu City.

Pante said despite the man’s claim that they were lovers, Sumaylo will still be charged since the girl is still a minor./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

INMATE STABBED BY CO-INMATE

AN inmate was stabbed and wounded by a fellow inmate at the Cebu City Jail.

Police said both  inmates had  grudges against each other even before they were jailed.

Emmanuel Parillo of barangay Lorega-San Miguel, Cebu City, was stabbed in the  chest and back.

Police said an improvised bladed weapon was recovered from Harold Dequito, a resident of barangay Tejero who was facing murder charges.

Dequito was jailed last Tuesday.

Police said that last Wednesday night, Parillo was at  cell number two when he was told that someone was waiting for him at the second floor.

When  Parillo went up, he was suddenly attacked by Dequito, said police.

Parillo was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Because of the incident, Dequito was transferred to another cell. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

HABAL DRIVER NABBED FOR DRUGS

A 32-YEAR-OLD habal-habal driver was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City.

Police said five small packs of suspected shabu were seized from Danilo Canoos  of barangay Saac, Consolacion town.

Drug paraphernalia, a cell phone and P2,500 cash were also recovered in yesterday’s operation, said police.

Police said the operation was conducted due to persistent reports that Canoos was involved in selling drugs in Consolacion and Jagobiao.
