Marcos distributes learning materials to 13,000 students in San Juan

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the distribution of tablets and other school supplies to students in San Juan City, urging them to make the most of the government assistance provided to support their future.

Some 13,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 each received a tablet, benefiting all 13 public schools in the city.

The Office of the Executive Secretary also provided 1,000 school bags containing learning materials for Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners.

“The local government and the national government can accomplish more together,” he added.

The President also reiterated his commitment to supporting teachers, including his pledge that no educator will retire with the rank of Teacher I.

During the program, Marcos also led the orientation for 105 beneficiaries of the Bagong Pilipinas Presidential Merit Scholarship Program and inspected Grade 1 and Grade 3 classrooms.

The education sector received the largest allocation in this year’s national budget – P1.345 trillion, in line with the Constitution’s mandate to prioritize education.

The budget will fund the creation of 32,916 teaching positions and 32,268 non-teaching plantilla positions in public schools. /gsg
