Marcos inspects new SFHS school buildings, says he’s not AI
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday inspected two newly completed school buildings at San Francisco High School in Quezon City, replacing structures that were burned down in June 2025, just before the opening of the school year.
The four-story Dao Building, constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways, replaces the fire-damaged structure and now houses 36 classrooms. Meanwhile, the SM-funded Henry Sy Sr. Hall replaces the old Narra Building and adds 24 classrooms.

Both buildings are equipped with sprinkler systems and were completed in just eight months—four months ahead of schedule.
San Francisco High School serves about 6,800 learners and is one of the largest public secondary schools in the country.
In a brief statement, Marcos said the completion of the buildings proves that when government funds are used properly, they yield tangible improvements.
“As long as the money goes to the project and not into people’s pockets. If the funds are properly directed to the project, this is what we can accomplish. We will continue doing this, and we will continue ensuring that government funds are spent on projects like these,” he said.
The president then made a lighthearted remark for those who might speculate that he was not physically present at the event and was instead generated by artificial intelligence.
“Inspect it carefully, otherwise they’ll say again that I’m just an AI standing here,” he said.
The fire in one of San Francisco High School’s main buildings broke out on the morning of June 15, 2025— a day before the opening of classes for SY 2025–2026.
This resulted in the loss of 10 classrooms, affecting around 720 junior high school students. The estimated total damages reached P3 million.
Three days after the incident, Marcos visited the school and ordered electrical safety checks at schools to prevent similar incidents. /das
