Manila Police District (MPD) Jose Abad Santos station commander Superintendent Roderick Mariano said that the incident happened at around 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Mariano told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that based on Roxas’ statement, a melee between two warring groups broke out near where he was standing outside his house. He then claimed to have heard gunfire coming from one of the two groups and then allegedly felt a bullet pierce his left forearm and go through his gut.

A neighbor who saw him bleeding from his wounds immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital.

Police station investigators were still establishing the identity of the shooter, according to Mariano.
