Police hit kin’s ‘intervention’

/ 08:32 AM July 09, 2011

The Mandaue police complained that the ongoing operation to arrest the two persons who robbed and raped a call center agent in Mandaue City was hampered by the premature release of the profile sketch of one of the two culprits.

Police said it was the relatives of the victim who reproduced the profile sketch of one of the perpetrators. Photo copies of the profile sketch were posted in the streets of barangay Paknaan, said Senior Insp. Rex Lomente, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch in Mandaue City Police Office.

Police said some relatives of the victim requested for a copy of the profile sketch although they promised not to distribute it.

Lomente said the premature release may have given the perpetrators a chance to change their appearance like having a new haircut.

FEATURED STORIES

Police said they suspect that the perpetrators are living in the barangay.

The woman was walking home when she was robbed and raped by two men at dawn Monday.

As of yesterday afternoon, police have picked up five men but none of them was identified by the woman as her attackers.
