QCPD clarifies viral video shows robbery not rape case

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday clarified that a viral video circulating on the internet is a case of robbery, saying that it may have been misinterpreted as a rape case.

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday clarified that a viral video circulating on the internet is a case of robbery, saying that it may have been misinterpreted as a rape case. 

The QCPD said that the incident in the viral video uploaded by a certain “Manong Balong” occurred in Barangay Kaligayahan in Quezon City.

“Based on initial investigation, at 7:30 PM on May 26, 2026, a 38-year-old male victim was informed by his neighbor that two (2) male individuals were seen inside his residence allegedly taking personal belongings,” the QCPD said in a statement.

“The victim immediately proceeded to his residence, and upon arrival, he saw the two (2) suspects climbing over the fence and exiting the compound while carrying stolen items,” the QCPD added.

With this, the police said that the incident report led to the arrest of suspects identified as alias “Dionisio,” 33 years old, and alias “Danilo,” 26 years old, who are both residents of Barangay 176 in Caloocan City. 

It added that “Danilo” has a previous record of violating Presidential Decree 1602, or the anti-gambling law, in 2023.

“The suspects were subsequently charged for Robbery in an Inhabited House or Building before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office,” the police noted.  /jpv
