Marcos hints at possible new Cabinet appointees

TOKYO, Japan — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday hinted at possible movements in his Cabinet anew as the one-year ban on appointing previous election candidates had already lapsed.
According to Marcos, the country needs all the best people that it can and many candidates in the previous election could potentially do a good job in the government.
“Possibly, possibly. Because the one-year ban for candidates that did not make it in the last election has lapsed,” he responded when asked whether the public can expect more appointments in the coming days.
“So, don’t be surprised if we start getting more appointments from those candidates who ran in the last election and didn’t make it,” the President also said.

Marcos said it will be a waste if he does not tap those former candidates deserving of taking part in his Cabinet.
“It’s a pity. We have to get the best talent that we can. So yes, that’s a natural progression,” he said.
The last shakeup in the Marcos administations’s Cabinet was last week, when former Sen. Francis Tolentino was named as the new labor secretary, replacing Bienvenido Laguesma. In the same interview, he finally put an end to speculations about Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s fate at the Department of the Interior and Local Government, saying there is no truth in circulating rumors about the latter’s replacement. /das
