8 hurt as bus rams railing along EDSA Ortigas southbound

MANILA, Philippines – Eight people were injured after a passenger bus hit the railing along EDSA Ortigas southbound flyover Wednesday, an official of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority metrobase said.

Rey Dumol said a Don Mariano bus (TXE 274) driven by Florencio Asarez Teron Jr. was on its way to Shaw Boulevard when it allegedly tried to avoid a motorcycle, causing the bus to hit the railing.

“Iniwasan daw yung motor kaya bumangga at rumampa na sa railing [It avoided the motorcycle,” he said, adding that the incident happened between 2:37 p.m. and 2:40 p.m.

While investigators have yet to identify the victims, Dumol said that among those who were rushed to the hospital was the driver of the still unidentified motorcycle.
