Corporate foundations across the Razon Group have joined forces to drive sustainable and inclusive development, strengthening synergy among their programs and initiatives.

A ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing the Razon Group of Foundations was held on May 22 at La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City.

The group unites the six corporate social arms of companies led by businessman Enrique K. Razon Jr., namely Bloomberry Cultural Foundation (BCFI), ICTSI Foundation (IF), Malampaya Foundation (MFI), Manila Water Foundation (MWF), Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation (MBCFI), and Prime Infra Foundation (PIF).

The ceremonial signing was led by BCFI President Donato Almeda, IF Executive Director Filipina Laurena, MWF Board Member Arnold Mortera, and PIF Chief Financial Officer Sandy Alipio, who also represented MFI and MBCFI.

The platform enables the foundations to align their initiatives on biodiversity conservation, water stewardship, sustainable livelihood, environmental education, climate resilience, and collaborative research. It aims to amplify their collective contribution to social progress, environmental protection, and the long-term resilience of communities across the Philippines.

“There is strength in numbers. This is true in anything we do. When we have the resources, we can do a lot, since most of us have many commitments. MWF is focused on water and sanitation. For BCFI, it depends on the help that is needed. MFI and MBCFI cover the areas within the constituent areas where Malampaya’s pipelines pass. PIF support covers a broad range of sectors. And IF is the pillar of the Razon Group, where it all started,” Almeda said.

“Helping is in our hearts, not only for the environment, the less fortunate, or those who need our help, but also for the preservation of life,” he added.

The landmark signing coincided with the celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity. As part of the celebration, MFI turned over forest tree seedlings to MWF, followed by tree-planting activities to support watershed rehabilitation. Participants also engaged in outdoor and wellness activities at La Mesa Ecopark, including yoga, basketball, airsoft, wall climbing, biking, fishing, birdwatching, and a biodiversity tour.

To support sustainable local economies, the Razon Group of Foundations also launched an exhibit at the La Mesa Ecopark viewing deck pavilion showcasing products crafted by partner communities. The exhibit is open to the public until May 31.

“When we work together, I am assured that the Razon Group of Foundations will leave a deeper environmental footprint, a wider reach for regions and communities, and create a lasting impact that will be felt by generations to come,” Mortera said.
