Replacement for resigned House solon takes oath

MANILA, Philippines — The replacement for one of the two party-list lawmakers who resigned from the House of Representatives has taken oath of office before Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, hours after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) made the proclamation.
During the session on Wednesday, Karl Josef Legazpi took his oath before Dy as the new representative of Pinoy Workers party-list.
Legazpi was previously appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the second Commissioner-at-Large of the National Youth Commission.
Comelec proclaimed Legazpi after former Rep. Franz Vincent Legazpi resigned from his post last Monday.

Aside from former Rep. Legazpi, 1-Tahanan party-list Rep. Nathaniel Oducado also submitted his resignation. On Tuesday, Oducado explained that his reason for resigning was his existing health issues, not his stance on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
In an ambush interview, Oducado relayed that his family has had a history of lung illness and that he suffers from asthma. The former lawmaker also shared that he had felt lethargic in recent months, sparking concerns about his overall health.
“I have to take care of my health, and take care of my family,” Oducado told reporters inside the Batasang Pambansa complex. “My family has a lung history. I have asthma. And at the same time, I get tired easily these past few months.” /mr
