Marcos: Government ‘not sleeping or on vacation’ amid aid push
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has assured the public that the government is not resting but continuously working to address their needs.
He made the remarks during the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Makati City” event on Monday, where 23 barangays received P200,000 each under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund. Half of the amount will be allocated to five scholars in every barangay.

Meanwhile, 13,571 families received 10 kilograms of rice under the local government support funds, with the distribution set to continue every two months.
“You can expect that your government is not sleeping or going on vacations, but is instead constantly thinking of ways to address the needs of the people,” Marcos said in Filipino at the Makati Coliseum.
“Besides that, we are also listening to you, so tell us what your problems are, what challenges you are facing, and what kind of help you need, and we will look into it. If the government is capable of doing it, we will do it,” he added.
Marcos also encouraged presidential scholars, who each received P20,000, to make the most of the government assistance.
“A good education is a gift that cannot be taken away from you,” he told the students.
He added, “Ang magandang edukasyon ay isang biyaya ‘yan na hindi na puwedeng kunin sa inyo. Habang buhay na ‘yan na nasa inyo. Hindi manakaw sa inyo, hindi maagaw sa inyo, hindi ito nalulusaw, hindi mawawala. Kaya take advantage of this opportunity. You are now the presidential scholars. Make the most of it. And make – study hard, work hard, and this will be something that will help you for the rest of your life.”
