Pagasa: LPA won’t affect PH landmass, unlikely to redevelop into cyclone

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility will not directly affect any part of the Philippine landmass and is unlikely to redevelop into a tropical cyclone, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.
In its 5 a.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said that the LPA, which was formerly called Caloy, was spotted 980 kilometers east of Central Luzon as of 3 a.m.

“It has a low chance of redeveloping into a tropical cyclone,” de la Cruz-Galicia said.
De la Cruz-Galicia also said that the LPA has not moved as it stayed within the Philippine Sea for the past few days.
“It has no direct effect on any parts of the landmass,” she added.
Saturday weather
De la Cruz-Galicia said that the frontal system is bringing cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms over Extreme Northern Luzon, particularly Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience cloudy skies with chances of isolated thunderstorms “in any time of the day.”
She added that partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be felt over Visayas and Mindanao with chances of localized thunderstorms.
She also said that no gale warning is raised in any seaboards of the country.
