Manila Water expands network to serve more Baras, Rizal customers

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water continues to expand its distribution network in the East Zone to connect more communities to reliable water service, with the concession now serving around 7.9 million customers.

In Baras, Rizal, the company is implementing two key mainline extension projects in Barangay Pinugay to improve access to potable water, particularly in relocation areas.

The Southville 9 Phase 2–5 Mainline Extension Project and the Heroesville 2 Mainline Extension Project are designed to extend service coverage and deliver more consistent water supply to growing communities.

The Southville 9 Phase 2–5 project involves the installation of a 250 mm mainline spanning 963 linear meters of HDPE pipes, supported by additional pipelines consisting of 150 mm HDPE pipes over 544 linear meters, as well as 400 mm steel and 250 mm HDPE components. Located in Barangay Pinugay, the project is currently 55 percent complete as of April 2026.

Once completed, the Southville project is expected to initially serve around 1,500 households, with the system designed to support up to 10,300 households as service coverage expands. The project will initially increase water delivery by 0.43 million liters per day, with long-term potential reaching up to 4.25 million liters per day. It is also projected to expand water service coverage in the area by approximately 4.56 percent.

Complementing this is the Heroesville 2 Mainline Extension Project, which is now undergoing road restoration. The project includes the installation of a 100 mm pipeline spanning 1,883 linear meters of HDPE pipes enabling water service connections in previously unserved sections of the barangay.

The Heroesville project is expected to provide water supply to approximately 700 households upon initial operation, with capacity to support up to 1,200 households at full development. It is projected to increase water delivery by 0.40 million liters per day, with total potential reaching up to 0.517 million liters per day. The project also contributes an additional one percent to water service coverage in the Antipolo Service Area.

Through these projects, Manila Water strengthens its ongoing efforts to expand service coverage and support the development of communities in Rizal by delivering accessible and dependable water supply.
