Liloan scholars increase to 448

THE scholars under the “Duke Scholarship Program” of Liloan town Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco have increased this year.

There are now a total of 448 scholars enrolled in different colleges and universities in Cebu City, an increase of 100 from last year’s 348 scholars who availed the program of the municipal government.

The municipal government also distributed school bags and other school supplies to the elementary and high school students. It also constructed more classrooms.

The “Duke Scholarship Program” was established by the municipal government to provide support to the poor but deserving students.

The municipal government has allocated P2 million for the program.

The scholars are taking up accountancy, business administration, engineering and other courses.

Some of them are fourth year high school students enrolled in the town.

The program also offers scholarships to those taking up masteral or advanced education programs. The municipal government allocated a P500,000 budget for the masteral of teachers.
